Day 8 - Goodbye Oklahoma!

We were at Jerry McClanahan's by 0830 and getting the low down on a road that's influenced his life since he was a kid, traveling (no stopping mind you!) with his folks in the 60s. He's the author of the EZ66 Guide... the bible out here.

Gerald had come in early to open up the Seaba Motorcycle Museum and we pawed over old motorbikes and memorabilia in an old Gas Station that has been given a new lease on life.

There's no doubting how eccentric John Hargrave is... he left early on his morning run so he could be back in time to meet us.

A special treat was for some was a ride on the highway in his old Model T Ford.

Rex Ferrell found his soul mate, amazingly with the same initials.

A quick stop at the Round Barn to see it's incredible architecture before lunching at Pops Soda Fountain nearby.

Then it was the longish haul (over two hours) on and off the rod, through Oklahoma City and down on to the multiple Pony Truss bridge at Bridgeport...

...did we mention the Mustang we found on the side of the road for sale. An Eleanor look alike - yours for just $14,500. John was working out how much excess luggage he could afford!

Further on in Clinton, the first of two museums. this one the pick of the road for laying out the mother road story so well.

Elk City Museum was the last stop at their heritage town museum... and then it was in to Sayre for a well deserved rest and an early night.
