Day 16 - Our Last State

It was an early start, out on to the i15 heading for the Californian border. Nevada isn't officially part of Route 66 but it's a must see in an area that's so close!

Then it was off to the California R66 Museum, California's answer to the other state museums we've seen over the last couple of weeks.

If the Boys might have hoped the Bottle Tree Ranch was a prospect for a much deserved drink but that wasn't the case... more like empties!

Mind you the Humming birds found plenty to drink!

An antique store was the next attraction, fortunately the suitcases were full so the temptation to buy more stuff was resisted and we began the trek up through the Lucerne Valley to Big Bear for a country treat.

Our friends Carol and Jerry and neighbours really treated us to a bit of good ole fashioned country hospitality.

Add in some real live ponies, some Peanut Brittle and home made Root Beer Floats and the day was made!

With time up our sleeve we headed on through Big Bear City, past the lake and on down the mountain and the valley below.

Even the wildlife was admiring the view.

All too soon we were in amongst the greater LA traffic tasting the intensity of the traffic for the first time.

The Mission Inn was home for the night. It never disappoints and it didn't for this group either. Just one official day on the a mother Road to go.
