2024 WB Day 1 - Mopars in our Midst!
Our Westbound crew was greeted with very different weather conditions for their experience in downtown Chicago.
First stop, the official start of the west bound journey… a sign to mark our start on Tuesday.
Breakfast of course was at Lou Mitchell’s… busy as always!
The Miracle Mile was under full sun, not rain!… making for quite a different vista.
The very point where the city’s first two buildings appeared either side of the river is DuSable Bridge…
…right near the second tallest building, Trump Hotel.
The WB team ducked under several of the 300 plus bridges and viaducts crossing the 156 miles of waterways, listening to the reams of information wafting out through our host’s microphone about the multitude of different architectural structures.
The view from the 360 Chicago viewing deck was different too! Some of the EB team joined us to see what they didn’t see yesterday!
Back at the Congress Plaza Hotel we snuck a peak in one of their ball rooms, the ornate ceiling a hint of a very proud history.
The Tribune Tower has dozens of rock from different parts of the world and time…
…embedded in its stone walls to illustrate the link with different events and places around the globe.
Our Blue Oval ranks have been infiltrated with a couple of Mopars - Dodge Challengers, replacements for two Mustangs in need of a little tlc.
A run up the edge of Lake Michigan to Whiting for lunch proved a great way to introduce this team to their steads…
and a chance to see more sides to Chicago surrounds.
Dinner was at Rosati’s… for Chicago deep bake pizza… and an early night in readiness for our departure from the Windy City.
