GAEL WILLIAMS - Toowoomba, QLD
I recently (2023) experienced the thrill of driving Eastbound on Route 66 with Paul and Robyn. What an insight into the history of the Mother Road, stepping back in time at original diners, sleeping in motels still decorated in '50s style.

But what really brings it to life are the contacts Paul and Robyn have made along the way - not just made but nurtured. Meeting and speaking with their contacts adds a dimension unique to Down Under on Route 66. Don't miss it!

We would recommend this trip to anybody who has the slightest interest in Route 66 but also in the American culture, as, for us, it was an excellent way to meet people and see some parts of USA that are not common or easily accessible tourist destinations and we would have probably not seen on a normal holiday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Westbound trip on Route 66 with Robyn & Paul in 2023. We generally organise our own itineraries and are not big fans of organised trips, but with Route 66 being quite long and meandering through so many places we jumped to the opportunity of joining a group. And what a good decision this was!
We did not regret it even once as Robyn and Paul took us to see some wonderful places and balanced the amount of driving with sightseeing perfectly. The places where we stayed were really well chosen – either special places along Route 66 or, in places where something of historical significance was not available or not up to standard, simply good quality accommodation. The diners were again carefully chosen and recommendations made for local specialities. They introduced us to some very interesting people along the route who had stories to tell and gave personal and local context to the places we saw.
Robyn & Paul even made the last day very special for us and took us around Los Angeles before our flight late at night, tailoring the day to suit both our interests in cars and architecture.
Driving was quite easy as we just followed them and the fact that we had the way points entered into our navigation system offered extra peace of in case we got lost (which amazingly didn’t happen even once).

Every holiday option has pros and cons that suit some and not others. We have never been on a commercially organised 'packaged' holiday trip. On reflection we absolutely loved our self-drive Route 66.

Sure you miss
out the
opportunity
to get to know
a small group
of fellow Aussies and Kiwis on the Down Under on Route 66 escorted option. But to balance that, we got to know others travelling the same R66 highlights as ourselves.
The opportunity for us to drive a new 2018
Mustang V8 convertible from Chicago to LA
for 18 days without undertaking any of the
usual time-consuming pre-holiday work of
scouring the internet, finding & booking
accommodation, paying the extra expense
of a one way car hire and researching the many Route 66 itinerary options,
proved too hard to resist.

We had a wonderful Route 66
drive across heartland USA,
great weather and we really
enjoyed the variety and
contrasts in scenery and lifestyles that we experienced.
Highly recommended trip that didn’t disappoint. Jane Buckman - August 2018.

After our experience of tackling Route 66 using Robyn and Paul's experience and their choice of accommodation, length of driving day's, we wouldn't change a thing! We met many wonderful people and experienced life as it would have been on Route 66 in the 1960's.

We are sure if it had not been for Robyn and Paul's planning we would have missed many opportunities to get right into the spirit of 66. This was the best overall holiday we have ever had and one everyone should experience.....we will be back!

DEB KESHA-LLOYD & LYNDON LLOYD - Christchurch, NZ
We loved every aspect of our Route 66 adventure, with each day full of varying landscapes, experiences and iconic memorabilia. Definite highlights were connecting with locals and hearing stories of their passions along the historic mother road. Route 66 is so much more than the 2,500 miles we drove:- it's a sentimental journey of history, culture, food, music, cars (... and more cars).
We could not have been in better hands. Paul and Robyn's meticulous planning, communication and teamwork throughout the trip allowed us to relax and fully immerse ourselves in the 'magic' of Route 66. Travelling in a small group with great people mean't we have come away with new friendships and lasting memories.
Of course, it has to be driven in a Mustang!

Robyn and Paul did a fantastic job in arranging the trip, cars and accommodation including several of the famous old motels that have been done back up as they were years ago - all good places to stay.

They were very knowledgable on facts along the way... We would happily recommend their trip to others who wish to have a hassle free experience. It was a lot of fun and you meet some lovely people and see some terrific country.

A true 'bucket list' experience that has seen us, on our return, answering more questions from friends and relations, than any other trip we have ever undertaken. The Mullan’s preparation, organisation and knowledge of the journey were excellent. This together with their ability to alter the itinerary on route to meet the groups’ requests made for a rewarding experience.
The Mullans are great hosts, making sure that all members of the group were 'included'. The use of two-way radios between the Mustangs was a great way of keeping the team together, while at the same time providing an opportunity for sharing information on the passing landscape.
A fantastic driving experience while obtaining a first hand appreciation of middle America and its history!
